Meet Coach Foote

James Foote enters his third season as the Offensive Coordinator for the Flagler College Men’s Lacrosse program and fifth season overall. A veteran of the sidelines with 20 years of coaching experience across all levels of the game, Foote has helped lead Flagler's transition from a student-run club to a nationally ranked NCAA Division II program.Foote joined the Saints in 2020 during the program’s final year as a club, playing a key role in laying the foundation for its success as a varsity team. In 2025, Flagler finished ranked No. 12 in the country, securing their first Peach Belt Conference championship.Prior to his time at Flagler, Foote spent the shortened 2020 season as an assistant coach with North Dakota State University (MCLA Division II), where he worked with one of the nation’s top club programs.From 2017 to 2019, he served as the head boys varsity coach at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, Colorado, guiding the program to a 31-14 record, the most successful run in school history.Foote returned to his alma mater, the University of Central Florida (MCLA Division I), as head coach from 2013 to 2016. During his time, he tied the program record for career wins and led the Knights to multiple SELC Tournament appearances.From 2009 to 2012, Foote coached at Lake Brantley High School (FL) under Hall of Fame coach Brian Theiss, serving as defensive coordinator. During that span, the Patriots captured four Seminole Athletic Conference titles, three FHSAA regional championships, and made appearances in the state semifinals and 2011 FHSAA State Championship game.He also spent time coaching in the collegiate women’s game, serving as the goalkeeper coach for Rollins College Women’s Lacrosse (2010–2012). The Tars reached the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2011. Foote additionally served as a volunteer assistant for the Rollins College Men’s Lacrosse program in 2010.A Virginia native, Foote earned his degree in political science and pre-law from the University of Central Florida, where he also played collegiately.
